PP spunbond for bags, packaging, furniture and bedding

Reusable shopping bags and packaging are made from PP spunbond, and so are many hidden parts of sofas, beds and mattresses. We make it on our own Reicofil lines in India, in any colour and with treatments on order, and supply rolls slit to width and wound to length to bag makers, packaging converters and furniture and bedding manufacturers.

What we supply for this

ProductWhat it does here
PP Spunbond Non-Woven Fabric100% PP spunbond, SS 10–80 gsm and SSS 8–80 gsm, in white or any colour, with flame-retardant, anti-static, UV-stabilised or hydrophilic treatments on order.

Shopping bags and packaging

Nonwoven shopping bags are cut from PP spunbond and then sewn or welded. The fabric needs strength for its weight and an even colour from roll to roll, and the bag maker usually prints it with the retailer's name or logo.

Our spunbond is 100% polypropylene, thermally point bonded, with high tensile strength and elongation and an even fibre lay-down for consistent strength across the width. Colours are matched to your shade with masterbatch, so a bag range can be made in a retailer's own colours. The same fabric is used for other packaging, such as pouches and protective covers.

Furniture and bedding

In upholstered furniture, beds and mattresses, the fabric must take staples, stitching or welding without tearing, and be even in weight and strength so that it runs smoothly on automatic spring-pocketing and quilting machines. Spunbond does several jobs here that the user never sees:

  • Dust covers on the underside of sofas, chairs and bed bases.
  • Pocket-spring covers, where each spring is enclosed in its own pocket of fabric.
  • Separating layers between springs, foam and padding, and backing for quilted mattress panels.
  • Covers and protectors for mattresses, pillows and furniture.

Treatments to order

Our PP spunbond can be made with these treatments on order:

  • Flame-retardant: for furniture and bedding where your market sets fire-safety rules. The finished product is tested to those rules by its manufacturer, so tell us the requirement when you enquire.
  • Anti-static: where static build-up is a problem in use or in converting.
  • UV-stabilised: for bags, covers and other products used outdoors.
  • Hydrophilic: where the fabric has to take up water.

Choosing weight and construction

We make SS (2-beam) spunbond from 10 to 80 gsm and SSS (3-beam) from 8 to 80 gsm. Light weights suit dust covers, separating layers and spring pockets; heavier weights suit shopping bags and covers that take more wear.

If you are replacing a fabric you already use, send us a sample or its data sheet with the weight, colour and any treatment, and we will make samples for you to compare.

How we supply

Fully automated lines with in-line camera inspection and robotic packing keep every roll uniform. Rolls are slit to the widths your machines run and wound to the length you need, then labelled and packed to your specification. The minimum order is one 40'HQ container, and 5–6 different products can be combined in it.
