Spunbond nonwoven for cable wrapping tapes
Cable makers and tape converters use spunbond nonwoven as the base of wrapping and binder tapes for power and telecom cables. We make both polymers used for it, nylon 6 and PET, on our own lines in India: point or flat bonded, 15–150 gsm, in any colour, as jumbo rolls or slit to width.

Products
What we supply for this
| Product | What it does here |
|---|---|
| Nylon 6 Spunbond Non-Woven Fabric | The tough option: high tensile and tear strength at low weight, abrasion resistance, good adhesion to adhesives and coatings, and stable in contact with oils and greases. |
| PET Spunbond Non-Woven Fabric | The stable option: stiffer, holds its size through hot coating and laminating, and takes up almost no moisture. |
What the tape does in a cable
A wrapping tape is wound around the cable core, or around groups of conductors, during cable production. It holds the bundle together for the next production step, separates one layer from the next and gives an even surface for the layer that follows. Binder tapes do a similar job, holding stranded elements in place.
The tape runs on high-speed wrapping heads, so the nonwoven under it has to be strong in the running direction, even in weight from edge to edge and roll to roll, and slit cleanly so that narrow tapes do not fray or break on the line.
Nylon 6 or PET?
Both polymers are used for cable tapes. The right one depends on what the tape has to survive in your cable and on your line.
- Choose nylon 6 when the tape must be tough and flexible: it resists abrasion and tearing, stays strong at low weights and bonds well to adhesives and coatings.
- Choose PET when stiffness and dimensional stability matter most, when the tape goes through hot coating or laminating, or when moisture pick-up must stay very low.
- Nylon absorbs a little moisture from the air. Condition samples before you test them, and keep rolls in their wrapping until use.
- Not sure? We make both, so we can send samples of each to try side by side on your line.
Point bonded or flat bonded?
Point-bonded spunbond is fused only at small, regular dots. It is softer, more flexible and more open, and wraps closely around round shapes.
Flat-bonded spunbond is pressed between smooth heated rolls. It is thinner, smoother and denser, with an even surface for coating, printing and lamination, which suits tapes that are converted further before they reach the cable line.
We make both bondings in both polymers. Tell us how your tape is made and used, and we will suggest a starting point.
One spunbond supplier for both polymers
Because we make nylon 6 and PET spunbond ourselves, you can compare both polymers and both bondings from one source, change the specification without changing supplier, and order colours to your own requirement. The minimum order is one 20-foot container per product, and rolls are labelled and packed to your specification.

FAQ
Questions buyers ask
Which is better for cable wrapping tapes, nylon 6 or PET spunbond?
Nylon 6 when the tape must be tough, flexible and bond well to adhesives and coatings; PET when stiffness, dimensional stability, hot processing or very low moisture pick-up matter most. We make both, so we can send samples of each.
Do you make the spunbond yourselves?
Yes. Both nylon 6 and PET spunbond are made on our own lines in India.
Can you slit the fabric to tape widths?
Yes. We supply jumbo rolls or rolls slit to your width. Tell us the width, roll length and core size you need.
What weights can you make?
15 to 150 gsm, point bonded or flat bonded.
What is the minimum order?
One 20-foot container for nylon 6 spunbond, and one 20-foot container for PET spunbond.
Can I get samples?
Yes. Samples are free and we pay the courier. Tell us the end use, weight, bonding type and colour.
