Nonwovens for geotextiles and landscaping fabrics

Geotextile and landscaping-fabric suppliers use two kinds of nonwoven: thin, strong spunbond and thicker needle-punched felt. We make both on our own lines in India, PET spunbond from 15 to 150 gsm and needle-punched felts from 60 to 2,000 gsm, and supply them made to order under your brand.

What we supply for this

ProductWhat it does here
PET Spunbond Non-Woven FabricLandscaping fabrics and geotextiles in polyester spunbond: strong for its weight, point or flat bonded, in any colour.
Needle Punched Non-Woven FabricThicker needle-punched geotextiles in PET, PP and other fibres, with weight, thickness, density and finish made to order.

What a geotextile does

A geotextile is a permeable fabric laid in or on the ground. In roads, drainage works, embankments and landscaping it usually does one or more of these jobs:

  • Separation: keeps two layers apart, such as soil and gravel, so that they do not mix under load.
  • Filtration: lets water pass while holding back soil particles.
  • Drainage: lets water move within the plane of the fabric.
  • Protection: cushions a membrane or liner against stones and sharp objects.

Landscaping fabrics

Landscaping fabrics do a lighter version of the same work. They go under gravel, bark or paving, let rain through, and keep soil and weeds from coming up into the top layer. For your customers, a fabric that is easy to cut, lay and pin matters as much as its weight.

Spunbond or needle-punched?

The two constructions behave differently in the ground, and many ranges include both.

  • PET spunbond is made from continuous polyester filaments, so it is thin and strong for its weight. It suits landscaping fabrics and geotextile layers where a thin, strong fabric is enough.
  • Needle-punched felt is thicker and bulkier: loose fibres are entangled by barbed needles into a three-dimensional structure, without chemical binders. Its thickness gives cushioning and room for water to move inside the fabric, so it suits protection and drainage layers.
  • How open either fabric is depends on its weight, density and bonding. Tell us the job the fabric must do, and we will suggest a starting point.

Polyester or polypropylene felt

We needle-punch PET, PP and other fibres. Polyester keeps its strength at high temperatures, which matters where a fabric is laid under hot asphalt or bitumen; polypropylene is lightweight and chemically resistant. If you already sell a geotextile, send us its data sheet or a sample and tell us the properties and test methods your market specifies.

Rolls for your market

Geotextiles and landscaping fabrics are bulky, so roll width, length and packing decide how much fits in a container and how easily the rolls are handled on site. We supply rolls slit to your width and length, labelled and packed under your brand.

The minimum order is one 20-foot container for PET spunbond. For needle-punched felts it is one 40'HQ container, in which 5–6 different products can be combined, so spunbond and felt in several weights can travel together.

FAQ

Questions buyers ask

Spunbond or needle-punched for a geotextile?

Spunbond where a thin fabric that is strong for its weight is enough, such as landscaping fabrics. Needle-punched felt where thickness matters, for cushioning and protection or for water to move within the fabric. We make both, so we can send samples of each.

Which fibres can you needle-punch?

PET, PP, viscose, nylon, PAN, PPS, aramid and PTFE. For geotextiles, PET and PP are the usual choices.

Which weights do you make?

PET spunbond from 15 to 150 gsm, and needle-punched felts from 60 to 2,000 gsm.

Can you supply under our brand?

Yes. Rolls are labelled and packed to your specification.

What is the minimum order?

One 20-foot container for PET spunbond. For needle-punched felt, one 40'HQ container, in which 5–6 different products can be combined.

Can I get samples?
