Absorbents for fuel stations and depots

Fuel stations, fuel depots and fleet yards handle petrol, diesel and oils at pumps, fill points and transfer points every day. We make the oil-only absorbents, recycled felt and boom netting that distributors supply to these sites, under their own label and in mixed containers.

What we supply for this

ProductWhat it does here
Oil Absorbent ProductsOil-only pads, rolls, socks, pillows, booms and sweeps in 100% PP meltblown: absorb fuels, oils and hydrocarbons and repel water, so they work outdoors in the rain.
Shoddy Felt Absorbent ProductsRecycled felt pads and rolls for depots, garages and fleet yards: dense, lies flat on rough ground, cut to any size; for hard surfaces, not open water.
Oil Boom NettingKnitted polyester netting for boom makers who fill their own booms for refuelling and transfer points, drains and sumps.

Oil-only for fuels, outdoors

Most of the work at a fuel station or depot happens outdoors. Oil-only absorbents are made from 100% polypropylene meltblown, which takes up fuels, oils and other hydrocarbons and repels water. On a wet forecourt the pad picks up the fuel and leaves the rainwater behind, so it is not used up soaking water. Our oil-only sorbents absorb up to 15 times their own weight in oil.

Which format goes where

A range for fuel stations and depots usually covers:

  • Pads: drips at pumps, fill points and hose connections, and lining drip trays.
  • Rolls: lining transfer and decanting areas and walkways, perforated to tear to size.
  • Socks: around drains and fill points, and damming a spill before it spreads.
  • Pillows: under leaking valves and inside drip pans and sumps.
  • Booms: protecting drains and outfalls, and in settlement tanks and sumps.
  • Spill-kit stock: the same pads, socks and pillows, packed to fill your kits.

Recycled felt for yards and garages

Our shoddy felt pads and rolls are needle-punched from reclaimed textile fibre with no chemical binders. The oil grade is 80% recycled cotton and 20% recycled polyester, for oil, fuel and lubricant clean-up on hard surfaces; a universal grade made from recycled viscose and acrylic fibre handles oils, coolants and water-based fluids. The felt is dense, lies flat on rough ground and can be cut to any size because it is unperforated. It is made for hard surfaces, not open water. For distributors tendering into contracts with environmental criteria, it gives a straightforward recycled-content answer.

Netting for boom makers

If you fill your own booms, we supply white knitted polyester tubular netting for 3, 5 and 8 inch booms or any diameter you need, as a continuous tube cut to your length. Polyester filament keeps its strength when wet and does not rot, and the open mesh lets oil reach the absorbent fill at full rate.

Handling used absorbents

Used absorbents hold what they have taken up, so a pad full of fuel must be handled and disposed of as the fuel itself requires, under local rules. Say so on your packing and in your kit instructions.

Supply under your brand

Oil-only comes in white or blue as standard, and construction, size, fill, perforation, print and packing are made to your specification. You can combine 5–6 different products in one 40'HQ container, so oil-only absorbents, recycled felt and netting can travel together. Plain polybags are standard; printed polybags, cartons and labels are available at extra cost.
