Absorbents for power plants, transformers and generator rooms

Power plants, transformer yards and generator rooms run on oil: insulating oil in transformers, lubricating and hydraulic oil in turbines, pumps and compressors, and diesel for generators. We make the oil-only absorbents and recycled felt that distributors supply for these sites, under their own label and in mixed containers.

What we supply for this

ProductWhat it does here
Oil Absorbent ProductsOil-only pads, rolls, socks, pillows and booms in 100% PP meltblown: absorb oils and fuels, repel water and keep floating when saturated, up to 15 times their own weight in oil.
Shoddy Felt Absorbent ProductsRecycled felt pads and rolls for generator and compressor rooms and plant yards: dense, lies flat, cut to any size, with no chemical binders.

Where oil escapes on a power site

Leaks on a power site are usually slow and steady rather than sudden: a weeping valve, a seal on a pump or compressor, a drip at a generator fuel line, a leak from transformer equipment in an outdoor yard. Many of these points are outdoors or in areas washed by rain or condensation.

That is why oil-only absorbents suit power sites. They are made from 100% polypropylene meltblown, which takes up oils and fuels and repels water, so a pad in a wet transformer yard picks up the oil and leaves the rainwater behind.

Which format goes where

A range for power plants usually covers:

  • Pillows: under leaking valves, inside drip pans and sumps, and as overnight leak cover where a pad is too thin.
  • Pads: drips under pumps, compressors and generators, and lining drip trays and repair zones.
  • Rolls: large-area cover under plant and temporary flooring during servicing and outages, perforated to tear to size.
  • Socks: around machine bases and sumps, around drains, and damming a spill before it spreads.
  • Booms: protecting drains and outfalls.
  • Recycled felt: generator and compressor room floors, plant yards and site huts.

Recycled felt for generator and compressor rooms

Our shoddy felt pads and rolls are needle-punched from reclaimed textile fibre with no chemical binders. The oil grade, 80% recycled cotton and 20% recycled polyester, is made for oil, fuel and lubricant clean-up on hard surfaces; the universal grade, from recycled viscose and acrylic fibre, also takes up coolants and water-based fluids. The felt is dense and heavy, lies flat and conforms to rough floors, and can be cut to any size because it is unperforated. It is for hard surfaces, not open water. Where a buyer asks for recycled content, it gives a straightforward answer.

Planned outages and stock

Maintenance outages use absorbents in volume: rolls laid as temporary flooring, pads and pillows under opened equipment, socks around work areas. If you supply plants for their outages, tell us the quantities per product and we will plan one container to cover them.

Supply under your brand

Oil-only comes in white or blue as standard, and construction, size, fill, perforation, print and packing are open. You can combine 5–6 different products in one 40'HQ container, so oil-only absorbents and recycled felt can travel together. Plain polybags are standard; printed polybags, cartons and labels are available at extra cost.

FAQ

Questions buyers ask

Which absorbent suits transformer yards?

Oil-only. It absorbs oil and repels water, so it picks up oil outdoors in the rain without filling up with water.

What do you recommend for slow leaks under valves?

Absorbent pillows. They hold more than a pad in a small footprint and suit persistent drips and slow leaks.

Can recycled felt be used in generator rooms?

Yes. Generator and compressor rooms are among its main uses. It is for hard surfaces, not open water.

Can we mix oil-only absorbents and recycled felt in one container?

Yes. 5–6 different products can be combined in one 40'HQ container.

Can you pack under our brand?

Yes. Plain polybags are standard; printed polybags, cartons and labels are available at extra cost.

Can I get samples?

Yes. Samples are free and we pay the courier.
